Task Four - Understand the techniques of music videos

This is part of the edit i was doing to the music as you can see i cut and faded in and out the video. This shows where i put the fade in and out This is my final part of the edit uploading it to youtube as you can see i used two different types of clips single of me then a double of me and jordan. This didn't take long as in front of us was the lyrics to the song

Task Three - Understand the techniques of music videos

  

 As you can see i used many cuts in the video and many effects. From the beginning to the start, i started to cut when the beat started playing. And at most beats i used a different part of the video i was giving.

I added effects such as colour change i also started playing round with the effects are started adding different ones where i saw fit. from the beginning i didn't use a lot of effect but then gradual started doing more because i got more confutable using them. 

I only use chroma key once because even tho it was effective it was difficult to place and do. And i didn't feel as doing it 

These are some on the main tools i used in editing the video i used the cutter to the beat the beat that tool is circled with a red circle. 

I also high lighted the track and pressed M where the beat started just so it was easier for me to edit.  

Task Two – Understand the styles and conventions of music videos

Andrew Goodwin

Andrew Goodwin points out that characteristics can be found in music videos. e.g stage performances in metal videos. or in girl girlbands there are all ways close ups of them in a line or them dancing.

  In this video this is an example of the close up and the girl band dancing.

There are many other examples such as rock bands in there videos they show close ups of them and there instruments. this is a clear example of a rock video with close ups of the band singing and close ups of there instruments

But if we was watching a boy band it would be similar to the girl group in where they all have a close up and they all have a group shot

 As you can see this is a clear example of a boy band video with a shot with them all in it and close ups of all of them.

 This is an example of inde music they use simple instruments with a very simple video with it. its got a quite slow relaxing tempo



Next example is rap music in there videos there are mostly showing there money and what woman they have in the videos

This is an example of how much money he has and him showing himself off


Next example is house music this type of music is very up beat tempo its shows the party where the music is being played


 this is a clear example of house music the video is all of them partying and dancing around.

another example is hip-hop there videos are upbeat usually partying or having dancers in the video

 this is the example of hip hop where there is up beat and dancers and a dance routine

There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals

The first example is where the lyrics match the video playing for example



This is a clear example of the relationship of lyrics and visual where (nelly furtado) sings im like a bird i want to fly away and in the video there are loads of scenes of birds flying away out of the video

But sometimes people completely ignore the video and do not match the lyrics



As you can see this is an example of ignoring the lyrics because there was no need to add the monkey mask into the video i feel he did this to add attention so people watched it.

This is the other example where they enhance the match of lyrics to the video

Also there is a relationship between the music and the video

There are also different forms of music videos such as Digital and stop-motion animation
But there are also different styles of music video such as narrative based impressionist surrealist pastiche parody homage intertexual.

This is stop motion animation as you can see loads of shot have been put together to make a hole video.

This is a music video of live footage for the music video being played.


As you can see the live footage is at a concert.


This is an cinematic music video as you can see the video just consists of cartoon edit theme

 As you can this describes surreal very well it shows different places and then edits them to have the surreal effect.
